We all need to hear good things about ourselves. Sometimes we wish the people we come in contact with on a daily basis would give us a few good words, or a compliment, or a word of encouragement or even a smile. However, there might be times that just might not happen. So why wait? You talk to yourself all of the time. Are you aware of what you’re saying? What little pre-recorded messages are running through your brain day in and day out? Are they supportive and encouraging, or are they like most folks-self depreciating?

Do you know how to eat?

Sounds like a no-brainer…
But really…do you?
There is so much information floating around by the diet/weight loss industry that most of us are just plain confused. I have come to hate the word “diet”. It suggests a short term band-aid for a lifelong problem.

Look, all these quotes are saying the same thing…and I’ll bet you use several of them in your
daily conversations. Our information-saturated brains need a break!
“Just the Facts”
“In a nutshell”
“Trim the fat”
“Cliff notes version”
“Condensed edition”
“The Bottom Line”
“KISS”
“____ for Dummies”
Never before in history have we had such a wealth of information available to us 24/7 through so many venues: TV, Radio, internet, Printed material and on an on. While having this information has made our world much smaller and more accessible, it seems to have created a few problems as well.
Particularly in the world of wellness, this glut of information has confused the general public. Instead of bolstering our confidence and giving us a solid base to make informed decisions as to what is best for our health and wellness, we are left dazed and unable to feel confident about even the most basic of lifestyle choices. Where is the voice of reason in this cacophony? To quote Francis Schaeffer, one of my favorite modern day philosopers, “How Should We Then Live?”
