470 pounds!

Hello everyone,

I would like to take a minute and introduce myself. My name is Dave Moffit and I have been on my weight loss journey for just under one year. It is a journey that has been difficult and rewarding, painful and completely life changing. On December 13th of last year I decided that I needed to make a life change. I was a relatively happy 32 year old guy with a good job and lots of friends. But, I had what the doctors called a little bit of a weight problem. I had been overweight my whole life yet it never seemed to bother me. I had always made the best of it and focused on all the positive things happening in my life.

For some reason on that particular morning, something clicked. I realized that I needed to make a change in my life if I was ever going to realize my full potential. It was time to get moving before it was too late.

Now, I haven’t mentioned it yet, but my weight loss journey started at a whopping 470 pounds! I’m still not sure how I ever let myself get so big. I was always an athletic kid and was active as a young adult. My problem was that I never ate right and as I got older I got less active and my weight just kept increasing. If you would have asked me how much I weighed before I started this journey, I probably wouldn’t even have guessed within 100 pounds of my actual weight. I literally had no idea. When I finally stepped on the scale I was floored by how much I had let myself go. So, here I am one year later with a brand new life.

I now weigh 285 pounds and as you can imagine, have so much more energy and confidence and the ability to have a normal life for the first time in a long time. I still have a long way to go, but I feel like I have the tools and the confidence in my ability to reach my goal.

I hope I can be an encouragement for others and learn from you as well. We are all in this together and having a support system is essential. I have learned a lot in my months with Whitney and I hope I can in turn share some of that of that with you. I look forward to interacting with you guys and I am open to any questions or comments.
